Mini Critiques: Bluebella Tala and Mimi Holliday Bisou Bisou

Author: Estelle

Disclosure: This blog post includes affiliate hyperlinks.

Time for the first post of 2017! I don’t have any New Year’s resolutions as such (unless my a single-buy-per-month challenge that I started a couple of weeks back counts) but I do have lots of plans for Esty Lingerie this year. A single of my smaller objectives is just to post a lot more usually – I averaged two posts per week final year, so I’m aiming for three to 4. I strategy to share more lookbooks, cover a lot more trends and place with each other some new sewing guides (that last one particular getting the factor I’ve had the most requests for). I’ll nevertheless be publishing lots of reviews too, beginning nowadays with some thoughts on a recent buy and a not-so-recent obtain.

Bluebella Tala chemise

This was the product I broke my now-finished ‘full priced only’ lingerie challenge for. I featured it on the blog in March 2016 exactly where I described it as one of the standout pieces from Bluebella’s SS16 collection, and every time I saw it soon after, rather of getting bored of it, I only wanted it a lot more. I bought it at MySale for £15, but right now you can get it direct from Bluebella right here for the same cost, reduced from £42.

It’s a very gorgeous piece, specifically for the price, but however I just didn’t really like it adequate to maintain it. My major situation was with the fabric, which is a extremely stiff embroidery. The kind that feels crunchy when you collect up a handful. There’s no way you could sleep in this, or even lounge around comfortably in it.

The chemise also gaped at the sides of the bust on me, like it was made for someone specifically full-busted who’d fill it out a lot more. If it have been just that, and the fabric were softer, I’d have sewn darts in and kept it. If the fit had been perfect, I’d have regarded as keeping it to layer as outerwear. It would have created a nice, sparkly best for New Year’s a few days back!

All in all, I can only advise the Tala chemise if you are not preparing on wearing it for really extended. If you just want one thing that appears the part for a photo shoot, then by all means go ahead and get it. Otherwise, the black lace Julianna chemise may be a safer, softer, bet.

line break

Mimi Holliday Bisou Bisou bra, boy short &amp suspender belt

Whew, how overdue is this assessment?! Sorry if you’ve been waiting for it given that I mentioned it was ‘coming up’ in December 2015! Of course, this set is now extended sold out, but Bisou Bisou is one particular of Mimi Holliday’s ongoing lines. Proper now you can pick up the very same bra 75% off in black and dark purple, the boy short in purple and pink (also 75% off) and myriad other Bisou Bisou products here. If you want a matching set, I do not consider I’ll be wrong in predicting they’ll release a new colourway or two in 2017.

I have a Bisou Bisou bodysuit also and I can see why this line is so common – the lace (which sits atop silk satin) is gorgeous as properly as becoming super soft and stretchy, so it sculpts perfectly to the physique. Getting now owned this bra set for over a year, I feel confident saying it holds up extremely effectively to normal put on.

I purchased the boy brief, which is a thong with a wide waistband, in an XS (UK 8 on the size chart) and the suspender in a S (UK 10) but I’d say they each fit a size or half a size smaller than that. The bra I purchased in a 30E and it fits true to size. The wonderful issue about this bra nevertheless is that I’m now most often in a 30DD and it still looks okay, because the stretchy lace operating all the way up to the shoulder acts to pull the moulded cup under in towards the physique. Without it, there’d be apparent gapping, but with it the bra nevertheless sits a lot more or significantly less flush.

The original cost of this set was someplace in the region of £150 and thinking about how sturdy it is, and how comfy, I feel it’s worth it.

What do you think of these two brands? And what would you like to study much more of from me in 2017 – evaluations, sewing tutorials, anything else? I’d love to hear from you!

Introducing: Figleaves Curve At Just Be

I sometimes really feel that the lingerie globe does some effectively in some respects, and fails slightly in other folks. I often get ladies writing to me asking aboout pretty bras with larger backs and smaller cups, and I can only ever offer a handful or recommendations.

Enter: Figleaves Curve at Simply Be!

The variety is obtainable from a 38-48 back, B – G cups and size 12-30 briefs. It consists of a mixture of bodies, babydolls, slips, bras and knickers, and there are beautiful patterns and cuts aplenty. It strikes the perfect balance among attractive and functional without having being seeking frumpy and clearly plus size.

I was not too long ago sent some pieces from ‘The Wave’ collection to try. I had to sister size as I sadly do not very match the cup range, and so these images are far more to show how the pieces look on a larger physique, rather than how they match.

I’m wearing my Catherine D’Lish robe, now sold out Dita Von Teese robe and The Massive Tights Business hold ups in these photographs.

The knickers are a size 22, and they are remarkable! I enjoy a high brief, and these are comfy and fairly. As I described, the bras are not the greatest match on me personally, but they will be ideal for boudoir style shoots. The bands come up a little firm – rather like Curvy Kate. I can not comment on the cups provided the sister sizing, but I did uncover them super supportive. The multiway bra gave me some fantastic cleavage, and the straps seemed super safe – occasionally they can slide out really effortlessly in multiway styles. I feel that the price points are reflective of the good quality and the engineering that has gone into these products.

I really like Figleaves Curve’s initial foray into plus size. I can’t wait to see the subsequent designs, and I actually hope they expand their sizes. Ideally with bigger cups, but far more importantly I would like to see smaller cups. Starting at a B is fantastic – but bigger ladies with smaller sized busts have really few options. Also, offered that the briefs start at a 12, it would be good to see smaller back. Size 12 females are unlikely to want a 38 backed bra, and there are 10 brief sizes Vs six band sizes. BUT, this is just the beginning, and who knows what will occur next! I for 1 am impressed thus far!

What do you think of the Figleaves Curve range at Basically Be? Let me know in the comments!

My Top 5 Lingerie Purchases of 2016

Author: Estelle

As usual, I’m ending the year with a round-up of my very favourite purchases from the past 12 months. Previously I’ve carried out a ‘top 10’, but when I was going by way of my purchases this year I realised just how small I’ve in fact purchased – perhaps my existing one particular-item-per-month limit won’t be so hard to stick to right after all. Sharing my ten favourites with you would essentially just be a ‘here’s everything I bought that I didn’t dislike’ list, so for 2016 I’m going with five.

As in previous years, only things that I’ve truly paid for myself are featured here. My testimonials are usually honest regardless, but this way the skeptics amongst you can be sure the picks below haven’t been swayed by freebies! These are the 5 purchases that have truly stood out to me this year for a single cause or another…

five. Maison Lejaby Nuage balconette bra

Mini assessment right here

I believe this is the plainest bra I’ve ever purchased, and I couldn’t be happier with it. I’m not usually one for basics, so for a bra like this to get onto my ideal-buys-of-the-year post means it is something truly particular. It’s properly-produced, the match it spot on, I adore the perfectly rounded shape it gives, and it is super comfy. Yeah, it is nonetheless fairly boring but that’s an easy repair – I have about a squillion pairs of fancy black knickers to pair it with!

I’m in Spain proper now and had to pack light (a suitcase complete of Christmas gifts and nappies doesn’t leave considerably area left for garments!) so I only brought two bras with me, and this was 1 of them.

4. Escora Zohra quarter-cup bra set

Evaluation here

I in no way would have purchased a quarter-cup bra if I hadn’t tried one on to write this post and realised just how supportive they could be. Considering that then I haven’t been hunting out for one particular precisely, but I stopped ruling them out at initial glance. I’m glad, due to the fact this bra is actually exciting and diverse to anything else that I personal.

The detachable choker is so ‘me’, as are the tiny Escora ‘E’ important charms which I pretend are Es for Estelle! I also adore the embroidery on this set which is an unusual blend of floral and geometric. This set was my very first buy from a brand I’ve been eyeing for a while, and I’ll undoubtedly be back for far more.

3. Ted Baker Peony chemise

Overview right here

The growth of digital printing has been a single of my favourite factors to occur to fashion lately. I’ve really noticed it in the lingerie globe this past couple of years with floral prints that have a depth of colour and a realism that is just so much much more intriguing than your normal, vaguely-cartoonish searching floral. It’s like wearing a bouquet.

As far as mid-priced lingerie and swimwear (and other clothes) goes, no a single does realistic-searching floral prints far better than Ted Baker. It wasn’t just the print I liked on this chemise even though, the glossy scalloped edging and rose-gold charm are genuinely pretty as well. I couldn’t think this was only £30 when I saw it in the shop, it appears like it need to have price much more.

2. Rosie for Autograph silk bra set

Review here

If you read my assessment of this set then you knew it was going to be on today’s list. I gave this set a 10/ten score for almost everything, which was a 1st for this blog, so yeah, I adore it! I’d been hunting for my ideal red lingerie set for actually years – it would have to be lovely but not too fussy for every day put on, it would have to be just the correct shade of wealthy, deep-but-vibrant red, and of course it would have to match like a glove. I type of believed it was a pipe dream, but no, that set was out there for me and this is it.

There’s also the reality that all 3 pieces (all silk, I may add) totalled £58.50. Yes, I’ve owned fancier items, but none of them had been so reasonably priced as this. Ideal sixty-odd quid I spent all year as far as I’m concerned.

La Lilouche Adelle grecian bra review

1. La Lilouche Adelle bra &amp Lana knickers

Overview here

I like scoring factors I overview on distinct aspects such as fit and durability because it is useful (I hope) for you as the reader to see, at a glance, exactly where a piece stands out and where it falls down. But that on its own is a extremely mathematical way of approaching lingerie which ignores that one particular, much a lot more important issue – how does the lingerie make me feel?

The M&ampS set above may possibly have received my ideal review points-sensible, but it wasn’t my favourite issue I bought this year. This La Lilouche set was, because it tends to make me feel like an absolute princess! It is just so, so stunning that I get that sense of awe each and every time I appear at it, even right after owning it for a even though. Yeah, it’s super delicate and not all that practical, but I value it much more as a function of art than anything else. One day when I’m wealthy, I’ll get all my underthings from La Lilouche.

What was the ideal lingerie that you bought or received this year?

The Best Lingerie Addict Articles of 2016

As we enter the last few days of 2016, it’s time to take a look back at our favored brands, lookbooks and blog posts of the year. These year-end roundups are amongst my favored articles to put collectively. I commit so significantly time arranging for the next post or project, that I do not constantly get to appear back and treasure an specifically very good report or photoshoot or brand campaign. Some of that’s a excellent factor simply because, as you know, when you spend as well much time searching back, you don’t usually program ahead. But now that our function for the year is virtually completed, I want to settle in and overview some highlights.

In terms of The Lingerie Addict’s editorial, the most significant alter has been bringing on three new writers this year: Ariel, Alexis, and Alysse. Their voices and perspectives are incredible additions to TLA and the blog’s dual missions of information and inclusivity. But in addition to all that, I just love reading their articles every single month.

The second huge adjust was promoting Krista, who you may possibly bear in mind as a former columnist, to TLA’s Assistant Editor. I burned out in a main way earlier this year and as soon as I recovered, I realized that the blog is too massive for me to manage entirely on my own anymore. I’d still been pondering of myself like a “small blogger”, but with practically six.five million views in the final year, that just does not describe the web site any longer. I really feel like the top quality of TLA’s content material has enhanced this year beneath Krista’s path, and I’m so excited to have an official “right hand woman” who genuinely understands what The Lingerie Addict is about.

Third, in an exciting adjust, some of the articles I’m most proud of don’t even appear on The Lingerie Addict! I did a bit of writing for other media outlets this year, such as Teen Vogue and Fusion, and this is one thing I’m hoping to do a lot a lot more of in the future. There’s so small lingerie details out there I believe the next step is for TLA to expand slightly beyond a lingerie weblog.

For 2017, I want to maintain functioning to make The Lingerie Addict a far better, a lot more inclusive and much more extensive resource. The Lingerie Addict is the biggest lingerie blog in the planet, but I don’t see that as a cause to rest, to coast, to quit trying. I want TLA to be the ideal location there is for lingerie-focused fashion, and I really feel much more inspired than ever to make that take place.

What was your preferred Lingerie Addict post of the year? And what would you like to see a lot more of next year?

Below is a list of the articles you will want to study once more and again from this year. Want to dig a tiny deeper with our Greatest of 2015 list? You can discover it right here.

Comparison – The Greatest Thermal Tights to Maintain Warm This Winter

Author: Estelle

Disclosure: I bought the SockShop, Fairly Polly and Charnos tights myself. The Falke and Oroblu tights have been gifted to me by Luxury Legs. All opinions are, as always, truthful. This weblog post consists of affiliate hyperlinks.

We’re well and genuinely into winter right here in Bristol now. I walk my son to nursery and then two much more miles to work early in the morning, and lately the ground has always been coated in frost. I think I’ve described at some point prior to that I almost exclusively wear skirts and dresses, not trousers, so hosiery appropriate now is not optional.

In the previous, I’ve just worn regular, opaque black stockings and tights through winter, plus socks on the coldest days. Nevertheless I have Raynaud’s and, possibly as a result, I never ever make it by means of winter without suffering from horrible chilblains on my toes – finding a better hosiery resolution was effectively overdue!

As I’m confident I’ve also mentioned previously, I’m not a huge fan of tights – it is largely an aesthetics point, but I also have sensitive skin on my legs that can get genuinely irritated by having also considerably hosiery clinging to them. However no one appears to have invented thermal stockings however (gap in the market place here guys! You make them, I’ll get them) so tights it was. Before I get onto the evaluations, I wanted to note that I identified all 5 of these tights considerably significantly less itchy and annoying than these issues generally are. It must be all the soft, brushed linings! So, fellow sensitive-skinned folks, thermal hosiery is possibly one thing to appear into even if you don’t want the additional warmth.

The 80 Denier Pair – Falke Warm Deluxe

Buy right here from Luxury Legs for £27

These tights have a plush finish on the inside which they claim creates an air cushion to conserve heat. I was sent these in Marine Navy and if you look at them in the appropriate lighting, and scrunch your eyes up a bit, I suppose they have a blue-ish tinge, but they are for all intents and purposes black tights.

These were the lowest-denier pair that I attempted but also the most expensive, so I genuinely didn’t know what to expect. Sadly, I didn’t locate these any warmer than my standard, non-thermal opaque tights.  They do really feel super soft and higher-good quality, and I’m confident I’ll get a lot of wear out them in the early spring, but I’m afraid I do not feel simply obtaining a plush lining is enough to qualify as thermal. Wonderful tights, but not great thermal tights.

3 / 10

The 100 Denier Pair – Oroblu Warm and Soft

Get here from Luxury Legs for £17

These tights have a ‘micro fleece’ lining. It is a thicker, fuzzier lining than on the Falke tights above, and oh my it’s soft! These tights were extremely comfy and, in my opinion, just as warm as the 140- and 200-denier pairs beneath.

You will also see if you read on that there had been issues I didn’t like about the appearance of the final three pairs, whereas these Oroblu ones are just extremely plain, common black tights. For these two motives, the combination of warmth and aesthetics, this was my favourite pair of the lot.

10 / 10

The 140 Denier Pair – SockShop Heat Holders

Get here from Sock Shop for £8.99

The Heat Holders brand is a SockShop exclusive, and following initially focussing on thermal socks they’ve branched out into tights and leggings. The brand claims they are 0.52 tog, even though that’s pretty meaningless to me with nearly no other tog-rated tights on the industry to evaluate them to! This pair has a extremely fuzzy brushed lining which is wonderfully soft (the softest, truly), and I located them lovely and warm as well.

This was the only pair of the 5 where I want I’d sized up – I would have been a lot more comfy with the crotch an inch greater, and I’m not tall – and I could have done with no the logo patch. I get that it is excellent for branding (how else do you bear in mind exactly where that one particular excellent pair of black tights came from when you have ten that appear the same?) but plain black tights currently look just so functional, I don’t require a continual reminder that I’m wearing thermals. When I’m pairing these with a luxe, lacy black bra, possessing Heat Holders stamped on my hip is the final thing I want! Could the branding not have gone on the inside?

Nevertheless, they’re thermal tights and they do that job effectively. They’re also the most budget-friendly pair I attempted.

7 / 10

The 200 Denier Pair – Pretty Polly Fleecy

As the name suggests, these tights have a brushed, fleecy lining and again, these felt lovely and soft against the skin as nicely as keeping my legs good and toasty.

This is my second-favourite pair from the 5 I tried and the only explanation I preferred the Oroblu pair to these by Pretty Polly, is that the waist on these comes up virtually to my bra! Perhaps that is intentional, to hold your tummy warm as well, but I thought it looked silly and it also meant there was a visible waistband bump around my rib cage if I wore a tight-fitting prime. Possibly a very good selection for men and women with a very lengthy torso?

The 400 Denier Pair – Charnos Velour Lined

Sold out, purchased for £11.99 from UK Tights

Although I only purchased these six weeks ago, they are unfortunately now discontinued and appear to be sold out everywhere. These tights are completely in contrast to any of the other people! In their packaging, they had been twice the size of the next-thickest pair and it becomes clear why when you unravel them and see what’s inside. The fleece lining is so thick it’s practically like fur, and super soft. They are so heavy, with a sleek outer, that I’m reminded of neoprene every single time I deal with them. Unsurprisingly, they were notably warmer than anything else on this list.

The tights have a cotton boot-sock which is in theory a fantastic thought (cosy toes good, sweaty toes poor) but as you can see in my photographs it comes up rather higher. Even with ankle boots, this bulge where the fabric adjustments is nevertheless really significantly visible and as such, I’ll only put on these tights below knee-higher boots. A foot-sock would have been a far more sensible style choice.

I.D. Sarrieri La Naissance de Venus Lace Balconette Bra

I.D. Sarrieri La Naissance de Venus Lace Balconette Bra

Each year, I think about collapsing the classic 5 Vacation Lingerie Buying Guides into two or 3. Maybe writing two purchasing guides for every thing below $ 249 and over $ 250, for instance. Honestly, because I’ve been obtaining so much problems with time management this holiday season, that could have been a very good notion this year. Yet component of why I like to break out TLA’s Vacation Shopping Guides into so many price categories is simply because I think it better conveys the story of lingerie. You can see how trends and patterns and silhouettes alter between that $ 50 guide and that $ 500 guide. The drape is distinct. The shapes are distinct. The levels of experimentation, playfulness, artistry – it is all various.

I usually hear men and women claim that any lingerie over, say, $ 60 is a ripoff. That it is just brands trying to gouge unsuspecting clients simply because almost everything only costs a few dollars to make anyway. Nicely, that is profoundly untrue. At this value point, you’re not only more most likely to encounter ethically created lingerie, you will also see pricey, artisan-necessary particulars that merely aren’t feasible at reduced rates. Believe pattern matching, custom created prints, and breathlessly fine lace appliques.

This is also the price bracket exactly where specialty lingerie care becomes vital. I’m speaking handwash with a dedicated lingerie soap, type of specific. These aren’t the type of pieces that are meant to be stuffed in a dark, rough drawer and forgotten. They must be enjoyed, relished even, and worn as usually as achievable.

Agent Provocateur Christmas Sale – 2016 Prime Picks

Author: Estelle

Disclosure: This weblog post consists of affiliate links.

This will be my final post prior to Christmas, which is in fact tomorrow as far as I’m concerned – we’re spending it with my fiancé’s household who have their massive Christmas meal on the 24th and then open presents at midnight. I will also be offline for the subsequent couple of days, so I wanted to take this chance to want all of my readers a very beautiful Christmas. I hope Santa brings you whatever lingerie you have been dreaming of, but if he doesn’t, there’s often the Agent Provocateur Christmas sale to treat yourself with 😉

I have to say I’ve been a little disillusioned with Agent Provocateur of late. This was 1 of the extremely 1st luxury lingerie brands I ever discovered, and undoubtedly the one I’ve purchased the most from, but I’ve only spent £25 with them this year. I always looked to them for styles that have been fresh and exciting and new, but for the final couple of seasons I’ve felt like that innovation has been missing. The lingerie is as luxurious as ever, but aside from the odd piece (I do not dislike everything) it just feels like more of the very same. Is that just me?

For instance, they are only not too long ago beginning to release bralettes, arguably the most significant lingerie trend of the previous couple of years, and it is strange seeing a brand that’s generally making the trends attempt to play catch-up alternatively. It’s a shame, simply because I actually would have loved to have noticed what Agent Provocateur could have come up with if they’d taken this trend and run with it.

Still, if what you are looking for is just very quite lingerie, Agent Provocateur will usually do that properly. And with numerous pieces now as considerably as 85% off, it’s the ideal time to treat your self to something you have been lusting after, or to try the brand for the initial time. Here are my favourite pieces, and you can see the complete sale here.

From The Desk To The Bar

I lately bought a handful of products from Evans, and I realised that when worn with each other, they gave off a very officey vibe! I personally really like that look – fitted skirts and tailored jackets and beautiful silhouettes are really considerably on brand for me. And so I wanted to show you my new purchases with a appear that I consider could take you from the workplace to the pub.

Shirts on big boobies are often not the one, but this size 22 floral printed shirt is a truly good fit across the chest, and by tucking it in the bagginess of the reduced half is disguised. It is thick sufficient to not show my bra by way of it, and the fabric does not crease easily.

This size 18 glittery tube skirt is such a lovely length and match on me. The fabric didn’t cling as well considerably, and it tapered in genuinely nicely at the knee, giving that beautiful wiggle appear. I wore my trusty Maidenform shapewear shorts underneath for a clean, smooth shape.

I have never ever been a fan of a actually structured jacket, as my broad shoulders and big bust do not really lend themselves to a wonderful fit. Nonetheless, this stunning hot pink City Chic jacket in a size 20 is just the appropriate quantity of structure but also lightness. It does not hang off me and add bulk, but it definitely smartens an outfit up a treat.

I want the jacket had a button, but it would be truly easy to attach a tiny hook and eye or a brooch to close it.

And the ideal jewellery to finish the appear off? These incredible earrings. Although they got slightly lost in my chopsticked curled hair.

How do you change your look up when heading from the desk to the bar? A make up change, distinct footwear and some statement jewellery? Let me know!
